When we moved into our new studio, we inherited a LOT of old wire. Instead of throwing it away, we've been stripping it and using it to build a sculpture out of water bottle lids (the same lids we use to make our popular water bottle cap earrings!). We saved all of the extra bits of wire from our sculpture building and used the bits to create these colorful "candy sprinkle" earrings.
Our post earrings are some of our most popular - we've been making them for nearly 5 years now! These 8 mm circle post earrings have surgical steel posts and incorporate trash plastics with a plant based bio resin.
The plastic pigment in these earrings comes from beach plastic, street plastic, and leftover bits from my other recycled plastic jewelry. In many cases, there is no current method of recycling these plastics via traditional means.
Due to the handmade nature of these earrings, slight differences should be expected from pair to pair, and from the image shown to illustrate the earrings. Colors may look different in person than they appear on screen. This listing is for one pair of earrings, only. All other photos are included for size and material reference.

These are considered costume jewelry and should be kept in dry areas when not being worn (so don't keep them in the bathroom or kitchen, don't go swimming in them, don't wear them while dancing in the rain, etc.). Spraying chemicals on or near costume jewelry may speed up the "antiquing" of metal - for instance, perfumes, hair spray, make-up setting sprays.
A portion of our proceeds are donated to environmental conservation efforts. We donate a minimum of $1,000 per year to Ocean Conservancy as part of their Business Champions for Sea Change Program. We also donate $1 to Mangrove Action Project for each package we ship. The sale of these pieces also helps to fund the direct clean-up of thousands of pieces and pounds of plastic trash, as well as helping to fund environmental education efforts.
Please see our page on sustainability for information on how you can return your old or worn out Hey Lola jewelry to us for recycling.
